36 Seatown,
Gardenstown,
Banff
AB45 3YQ
Situation
Alexander
Cottage was built in the 1860's as a traditional fisherman's cottage.
It is situated in the quaint Seatown area of Gardenstown on the
Banffshire Coast also known as the dolphin coast since it is home to
one of the world's most important group of dolphins. Seatown was home
to a vibrant fishing community in the 19th century. Although most of
the fishing boats are now in Peterhead, there are still smaller boats
in the harbour. Seatown spills down the steep hills towards the sea.
The cottages are close together and mainly not accessible by car with
narrow lanes connecting them.

The Cottage
Alexander
Cottage was built in the 1860's as a traditional fisherman's cottage
While retaining its original charm the cottage also boasts every modern
convenience. The cottage is fully centrally heated with electric storage
heaters but there is also a solid fuel stove in the lounge. The cottage
has a double bedroom, twin bedroom and single bedroom. The cottage can
sleep 5 in comfort but up to eight people with a single pull out bed and a double sofa bed
. There is a comfortable lounge, a dining kitchen and a bathroom with
shower over. Unusually for many of the cottages in Gardenstown,

the cottage, from which spectacular views over Gamrie bay and the sea
can be enjoyed.

| The
lounge is furnished comfortably with two sofas one of which also serves
as a double sofa bed. The seating surrounds the original Victorian fire
with a wood burning stove. There is digital television, DVD player and
Video player which sits on top of a Victorian chest of drawers. However
it should be noted that due to its geographical location television
reception can be poor in Gardenstown. |

| |
| The
kitchen is traditionally furnished with a large pine kitchen table. The
huge kitchen window looks out on the lane and down to the sea. The
kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge/freezer, oven and grill,
microwave, toaster and washing machine. There is a plentiful supply of
china, cutlery, pots and pans. |

| |
| |
| The
master bedroom has a pretty pine double bed with a traditional mahogany
bedside cabinet. The pretty wardrobe and chest of drawers are both
antiques. The bedroom is light and bright with views down to the sea.
The ceilings slope down as is traditional with these cottages but there
is more than ample head room. |
 |
| |
| |
| |
| The
second bedroom on the other side of the cottage also boasts sea views.
There are two oak single beds, another pretty antique wardrobe and a
footstool which cleverly converts to an additional sofa bed when
required (suitable only from young child) . As with the master bedroom
the ceiling slopes down on one side adding to the charm of the room. |
 |
| |
| |
| |
| The
third bedroom is the smallest bedroom. Again with the charming sloping
ceiling but light and bright with a large window looking down to the
sea. The single antique bed is larger than usual. It is an Edwardian
bed painted green with the original gold engraving. |
